Update Your Bedroom With Striking Bed Canopies
With summer and warmer weather approaching fast it is a great time to consider abandoning your thick duvet and throws and replacing them with fewer togs and bright and breezy interior designs which are crisp, clean and very summery!
Bedrooms can be transformed into real show stoppers by re-vamping the way you think about the style and colours you use. Basic 'rules' of using white to bounce as much natural light and sunshine around the room remains to be one of the most popular bedroom design styles which creates a wonderful relaxing atmosphere.
Keep things simple to create stunning rooms which are relaxing and invigorating at the same time! Crisp white or cream bedding is ideal for coordinating with any colour scheme and sticking to these pale shades also provides the opportunity to inject a vibrant colour into the room in a chic and stylish way.
If you have a four poster style bed frame you could replace the canopy with light voile fabrics to create a wonderful sensual look and a practical way to keep from being eaten alive by pesky mosquitoes!
One of the latest bedroom style trends is to have an overhead canopy if you don't have a four poster bed. There are of course the more traditional princess style canopies which have a circular fitting suspended from the ceiling or fixed on the wall above the head end of the head which work well in bedrooms with more traditional designs and are ideal for creating princess themes in little girl's bedrooms. Opt for pretty pinks to give a 'Barbie Doll' type appearance!
Contemporary and modern homes can incorporate the latest variations on a bed canopy by suspending a length of fabric either above the bed from head to foot or across the width the of the bed. These simple fabric canopies are easy to make and fix into place. All you need is four eyelet rings, the type used for hanging traditional net curtain wires. The size of the eyelets and the fixing needs to be substantial enough to hold the weight of the fabric, otherwise the whole thing may fall down on you in the night!
One distinct advantage to these canopies is the ability to choose gorgeous fabric designs which have a striking pattern as the entire pattern will be seen, alternatively this is the ideal opportunity to use a fabric which has an image as the whole picture will be seen and not lost in folds of the fabric as with curtains.
Choose bright colours or opt for simple stripes to give a nautical feel to the room. For a sensual touch try using beautiful silk or faux silk in orange, electric blues or emerald green to create wonderful Bedouin styles. Japanese themes are also a calming style trends which include the uses of cherry blossom pinks and white.
